Microneedle pyramid: Russian scientists have developed a method for painless vaccine administration

At RTU MIREA, it was proposed to use a patch with needles instead of a syringe

Employees of the Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies of RTU MIREA have invented a patch for painless vaccine administration. It contains a pyramid with microneedles up to 0.6 mm high.

Microneedles pass through the stratum corneum of the skin without affecting nerve endings. Thanks to this, drug delivery is painless and effective.

Patches with needles will replace traditional syringes with needles in the future

It is specified that when penetrating the human body, microneedles completely dissolve. This happens in a few minutes or hours, depending on the drug used.

Another project of the Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies of RTU MIREA is related to the production of oral films. Plates with a medicinal product are placed in the patient's mouth, where they dissolve and do not injure the digestive system. The oral film does not need to be washed down with water.

It was previously reported that scientists in Perm have developed a bionic prosthesis of the auricle.
