HIMARS Interceptor: Ministry of Defense Reveals How the Frost-Resistant Russian SAM System "Pantsir-S1" Works

The SAM system is used 360 degrees against many types of aerial targets - from drones to missiles and aircraft

The Russian Ministry of Defense has shown the operation of the modernized SAM system "Pantsir-S1", which was developed by "High-Precision Systems" of "Rostec". It is on round-the-clock duty to protect Russian military equipment, manpower, military and civilian facilities from attacks from the sky.

The SAM system is used 360 degrees against many types of aerial targets - from drones to missiles and aircraft, the "Pantsir-S1" was specially "flashed" for high-speed targets up to 1000 m/s at a distance of up to 20 km and has its own thermal imagers

The "Pantsir" is assembled on a modular principle, it can be located on any chassis. The complex is equipped with powerful phased antenna arrays, which allow destroying objects in a radius of 200 m to 20 km and at an altitude of up to 15 km without external support.

The reaction time of the complex is about 5 seconds, it can simultaneously fire at four targets. Twelve anti-aircraft missiles work on them, as well as two twin-barreled 30 mm cannons with ammunition of 1400 rounds.

The SAM system is frost-resistant: it is on combat duty in the temperature range from +50°С to -50°С. Among its features, one can also note the ability to aim and fire during the march, on the move.

Earlier, Rostec showed what modern samples of Russian military equipment could look like in the form of robots-transformers through the eyes of neural networks. "Pantsir-S1" is seen as a mechanized ferocious rhinoceros.
