Withstands up to a ton - Russia has a new platform for spacecraft

The first device based on it will be "Gonets-M1"

Specialists of JSC "RESHETNEV" have developed a new unified domestic platform for spacecraft weighing up to 1,000 kg. The platform's power supply system guarantees the allocation of up to 2 kW for the functioning of the payload.

The four-sided trapezoid shape was chosen because it is easier and more economical to place satellites under the fairing of the launch vehicle. In one launch, the platform will be able to launch up to four satellites into low circular orbits

The manufacturers note that the design and layout scheme of the platform allows for the serial production of satellites, while maintaining the necessary assembly cycle of products and the modular principle of their production. In addition, their production will be more reliable, faster and cheaper. The first device created on this basis will be the promising personal communication satellite "Gonets-M1".

"Gonets-M1" is a multifunctional system for personal satellite communications and data transmission. It will become the successor to the already operating Gonets satellite communication system, so the transition to the new service will be seamless for subscribers. Like the usual "Gontsy" before, they will be located in a low Earth orbit at 1,500 km.

The first devices of the Gonets-M1 group are planned to be launched into space in 2027. By 2029, an entire orbital group of 28 satellites will be created, which will begin to provide full services to residents of Russia and, possibly, in other friendly countries. It will be able to displace market leaders: the American Iridium and the British Inmarsat.

According to the Strategy for the Development of the Communications Industry until 2035, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, in 2031-2035 "Gontsy-M1" should already work at full capacity, maximizing their potential in geostationary orbit.
