Domestic ESP Production Starts in Kostroma

Mass production of EPS has started at the Pegas electromechanical plant in Kostroma

Mass production of Electronic Stability Program (ESP) has started at the Pegas electromechanical plant (part of NPO ITELMA) in Kostroma. ABS (anti-lock braking system) is also produced here.

In terms of architecture, ESP differs significantly from ABS. The stability control system unit has additional supply, shut-off valves, pressure and temperature sensors, and a control unit with advanced functions.

It is noted that ESP is produced under license, which includes a package of design and technological documentation, and software. It allows for deep localization of the production of stabilization systems.

According to the import substitution program for the period up to 2026, Russian specialists will master the production of an aluminum housing for the hydraulic unit, a control unit, and the use of domestic components. It is expected that by the specified date, the level of production localization will exceed 75%.

NPO ITELMA plans that in 2024 the plant will produce a total of 550 thousand units, half of them ESP. Production of ABS at the plant in Kostroma began in early July 2023.
