The new «Valdai 45» truck from «Nizhny Novgorod Trucks», assembled at the GAZ site, has made its way to Russian roads to its first customers. It is called the main competitor to another Russian novelty with similar characteristics - K5 from KamAZ.
According to auto expert Maxim Kadakov, one truck can be seen in Naberezhnye Chelny in the «Trans-Auto» motor pool, two - on the roads between Perm and Blagoveshchensk in the «Darkhan-Rail» transportation, transporting chemical raw materials. «Valdai 45» is capable of working with many semi-trailers and can operate as part of a road train with a total weight of up to 45 tons.
The truck is built on the basis of the Chinese Foton EST1846. Under the hood of the economical «Valdai 45» is a Cummins ISG12 turbodiesel engine with a capacity of 470 hp and a 12-speed ZF TraXon robotic gearbox, consuming 840 liters for almost 3000 km.
It also has other foreign components, which will be gradually localized and converted to domestic counterparts.
