UAC Patented a Method for Controlling a Group of Drones by an Aircraft Pilot

Sukhoi Design Bureau is working on a system for controlling a group of drones from an aircraft

UAC has patented a method for a pilot to control a group of drones using an aggregator server, which is created on the basis of artificial intelligence (AI). Among the authors of the invention is the director of the Sukhoi Design Bureau.

Pilot Yuri Vashchuk – Hero of Russia

It is specified that the server will be integrated into the aircraft's onboard equipment. It will allow synthesizing a unified tactical and informational field for the use of one or more drones. At the same time, the pilot can switch to manual mode and independently choose the flight program for the drones.

According to the patent information, the drone transmits data from detected objects and their characteristics (coordinates, altitude, image in the optical and IR ranges) to the server.

Decision-making algorithms must take into account emerging factors and threats from the external environment, failures and damages, and make the optimal decision
stated in the patent materials

That is, it is necessary to form a drone flight route taking into account the weather, the presence of air defense systems in the radius, defensive or tactical maneuvering. Solving most of these problems is possible thanks to the use of AI technology using machine learning.

Earlier it was reported that the engineers of the Sukhoi Design Bureau came up with a new concept for the cockpit of the Su-75 Checkmate. If necessary, it can be removed and replaced with a drone head.
