At the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University, a system of combat drones has been patented that can be charged directly in the air without returning to base and interrupting their duties.
Electrical energy is transmitted wirelessly. The charging drone recharges the combat drone by hovering over it, using a magnetic field source - a permanent magnet or an electric coil with a winding connected to a power source.
For this, the drone itself must comply with a structurally defined system. Multicopters, quadcopters, and convertiplanes receive engines fixed in their bodies and connected to power sources, on the shafts of which there are propellers. Electrical windings connected to power sources are attached to the propeller blades.
Also, as TASS indicates with reference to the patent, each such unmanned aerial vehicle with recharging skills is equipped with:
- a small-sized optoelectronic platform;
- a search and targeting radar station;
- an intelligence and navigation unit;
- a multi-channel data transmission line device;
- an "identification friend or foe" equipment receiver-transmitter;
- means of destruction.
