Russia to Quadruple Production of Il-76MD-90A Transport Aircraft

More than 2,500 new production jobs are being created

A part of PJSC Il, Ulyanovsk's Aviastar-SP, is launching serial production of Il-76MD-90A heavy transport aircraft. They not only perform civilian tasks but can also operate in military conditions.

The first Il-76MD-90A assembled on the assembly line appeared in 2021

Flow assembly was mastered in Ulyanovsk several years ago, but now Russian specialists have refined the system. A flow line for fixtureless automated assembly has appeared, which will increase aircraft production fourfold.

The system includes ten robotic stations for стыковки отсеков фюзеляжа, крыла, хвостового оперения и станций для монтажа силовых установок и систем самолета. A laser tracking system monitors the density and accuracy of стыковки at all stages.

Increased production means new jobs. In the next two years, this plant in Ulyanovsk will need more than 2,500 production workers. To attract and motivate employees, they are considering not only salaries and social packages but also housing programs.
