The Rostec State Corporation announced that the territorial defense of the Belgorod region received the latest "Obereg" bulletproof vests, developed by the Tula enterprise "Octava" (part of "RT-Capital"). The equipment is intended for assault detachments.
It is specified that the modified "Obereg" is equipped with an anti-splinter body kit and reinforced with ceramic plates (protection class Br5). Such a plate can withstand hits from 7.62*54 cartridges fired from a rifle or machine gun. The bulletproof vest also protects the fighter from armor-piercing 7N14 and B32 cartridges.
According to the press service of the corporation, the weight of the equipment in maximum configuration is 9.4 kg. The area of anti-splinter protection is over 76 dm2. The bulletproof vest does not restrict the movement of the soldier and is easy to use.
In October, Rostec conducted field tests of Russian, American and Chinese-made bulletproof vests of the same protection class. "Obereg" outperformed foreign counterparts, withstanding a hit from an 8.6 × 70 mm Lapua Magnum rifle bullet.
