Engineers at the Russian Vostok Design Bureau (KB) are developing a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the "flying wing" type. The drone will be used for reconnaissance, artillery fire adjustment, and signal retransmission, including for Scalpel kamikaze drones, the design bureau's press service reported.

It is known that testing of the new UAV will begin in February 2024. The drone has a wingspan of 3 m and can stay in the air for up to 6 hours. The flight range of the drone with a payload of 4 kg is 100 km.

As explained at the Vostok Design Bureau, the production cost of such a drone will be lower than that of its counterparts. Engineers are striving to make aircraft-type vehicles as affordable as possible.

The new drone will be able to be used for civilian purposes. For example, it will be useful for monitoring the surrounding area by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and will also be useful in the oil and gas industry. Wherever observation and video recording are required, a flying wing drone is indispensable.

In early November, www1.ru wrote that Scalpel kamikaze drones, which can carry up to 5 kg of payload, have arrived to Russian military personnel.
