Gosuslugi Wants to Collect Data on Russians' SIM Cards

It is assumed that in the personal account it will now be possible to track whether fraudsters are using your number

Russians themselves will be able to track whether their SIM cards and personal data in the form of their phone numbers are being used by fraudsters. At the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Development, a section may appear in the personal account on Gosuslugi where the user will be able to see all the SIM cards that are registered to him.

The section will display all current SIM cards in the user's name

A citizen will be able to block a suspicious number that he does not use but is registered to him, or his old number, or a substitute number-duplicate of his number.

Currently, such blocking is done by telecom operators at the request of customers online, as well as after a call or visit by the subscriber to the office. Plus, since the beginning of the year, a unified telephone call verification platform "Antifraud" from Roskomnadzor has been tested in Russia to prevent telephone fraud

But fraud using spoofed numbers remains one of the most common ways to steal funds in Russia. In 2023, the number of attempts to deceive Russians by telephone reached 8.6 million per day, compared to 5 million in 2022.
