Recent work by the Russian Ministry of Defense to rearm the Yasnensky missile division with the Avangard stationary-based missile system in the Orenburg region has not gone unnoticed by the West.
As stated by the Ministry of Defense, "the implementation of measures planned for 2023 to rearm the Strategic Missile Forces with a missile system with a hypersonic glide vehicle will increase the combat capabilities of the strategic nuclear forces" of Russia.
After that, the British Daily Express dedicated an entire article to the Avangard. The publication noted that missiles of this type fly at a speed of 20 thousand miles per hour (or 32.1 thousand kilometers per hour, editor's note), and they are invulnerable to air defense of any country in the world.
In addition, the UK recalled that President Vladimir Putin publicly announced in 2018 the development of a missile that "flies to its target like a meteorite, like a burning ball, like a ball of lightning." And this description is similar to the Avangard, for which the dense layers of the atmosphere are not an obstacle.
It is clear that nuclear weapons, previously called a "meteorite" by Russian President Vladimir Putin, can be launched from outside the Earth's atmosphere and hit several targets anywhere in the world in less than 30 minutes
At the same time, the West does not have such air defense systems to stop the Russian Avangard missile, and therefore it represents a "chilling threat to the West."
