Five waste-to-energy plants to be built in Moscow region and Kazan

They will be operational by the end of 2025

The corporation called "Rostec's" subsidiary, "RT-Invest", is building five new waste processing plants in the Moscow region and in Kazan. Electricity will be produced from waste.

First, the waste will be sorted out. Iron and metals separately, everything else separately.

The first plant will open in early 2024 near Voskresensk. Unique domestic equipment will be installed at this and other plants, ranging from turbines to filters for capturing solid particles after waste incineration.

The production is almost waste-free. Only around three percent of harmful ash is left from the bulk of the waste, which is then cemented.

As previously announced by "RT-Invest", one such plant in the Moscow region can recycle about 700 thousand tons of waste per year. It will supply the grid with 485 million kWh of electricity.

This amount of electricity is enough for 250,000 people, or for a small town with a population of about 100,000 people.
