It became known when a fully import-substituted KAMAZ-54901, also known as K5, may come off the assembly line. According to the CEO of the state corporation Rostec Sergey Chemezov, this could happen as early as 2024.
Chemezov said that more than 2,300 types of various components have been localized for the tractor. Now the truck is approximately 70% Russian.
The first import-independent K5s started to be produced in February this year. They differ from the old version:
On the new K5 vehicle, the automatic transmission, the leading axle, the pneumatic system and other units have been replaced. Also, the fuel consumption is reduced and the noise-isolating layer on the driver's cabin doors has been increased. They will also have a completely domestic engine.
