Russian military personnel conducted combat tests of the new self-propelled artillery guns 2S31 "Vena". They were successful.
"Vena" from "Motovilikhinskiye Zavody" entered the balance of Russian troops quite recently. It differs from "Nona", which was previously considered the most advanced development in this category, in rate of fire, speed, and automation of control.
Thus, thanks to the computer inside, it can memorize the coordinates of up to thirty enemy targets. The automated control system helps to calculate firing settings, topographic referencing, and orientation.
The day and night optoelectronic reconnaissance and target designation system makes "Vena" capable of operating both at night and during the day. It is also connected to the onboard computer. The self-propelled gun fires at a speed of ten rounds per minute at 13 kilometers.
In addition, "Vena" can be both a cannon and a mortar: the ammunition includes classic shells, mines, and rocket-assisted projectiles. It is subject to 70 types of shells.
Versatility is among the qualities of not only this domestic self-propelled gun. Not so long ago, Rostec began supplying the Russian troops with a batch of new 120-mm self-propelled artillery guns "Floks". "Floks" are also among the most modern artillery systems in Russia, and also combine the properties of both a cannon and a mortar.
