The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the replenishment of the Submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet with a new nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine cruiser, 'Generalissimus Suvorov', of project 955 'Borey-A'. The submarine, developed by the Central Design Bureau of Marine Technology 'Rubin' from St. Petersburg, took about two months to transition from the Northern Fleet to the Pacific Fleet.

The crew of the submarine cruiser underwent a cycle of combat training and passed the necessary course tasks at the Northern Fleet.

The nuclear submarine was built at the Sevmash production association following the modernized 955A 'Borey-A' project. There are now two such submarine cruisers in the Pacific Fleet in Russia: 'Prince Oleg' entered combat duty there before 'Generalissimus Suvorov'.

'Generalissimus Suvorov' belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear submarines. It is equipped with modern missile and torpedo weaponry, complexes of radio-technical, sonar weaponry and navigation.

Its main weapon is sixteen sea-based intercontinental ballistic missiles 'Bulava'.

Each of these three-stage nuclear missiles weighs 36.8 tons. It is capable of reaching the target with accuracy up to 8000 kilometers; at a greater distance, it may give a likely deviation from the target at 120-350 meters.

'Bulava' can carry from 6 to 10 hypersonic maneuvering nuclear warheads of individual guidance with a total mass of 1.15 tons, capable of changing the flight trajectory in altitude and course.

Interestingly, the underwater launch of 'Bulava' can be made by the missile carrier without stopping its course.
