Russia will start producing printed circuit boards for portable electronics

«NPP Itelma» will invest up to 2 billion rubles in the production of boards for electronics

The Russian company «NPP Itelma» plans to invest about 2 billion rubles in the launch of production of printed circuit boards of the 6th class of accuracy (used in portable electronics - note from www1.ru), which is scheduled for 2025-2026. The capacity of the production line will be 15 million square meters of boards per year. This is reported by the «Kommersant» publication.

According to a representative of «NPP Itelma», work is currently underway to design the line, select equipment. The company expects that half of the volume of boards produced will be sold on the market, the rest will remain for its own needs.

From 2026, Russian authorities intend to tighten requirements for the localization of electronic control units (ECU) of cars. An ECU will be considered Russian only if domestic components were used, including boards.

Experts estimate the ECU market volume in 2022 at up to 40 billion rubles, while the need for boards is 4 million square meters. In a few years, this figure may increase to 10 square meters.

Many companies are now purchasing boards from Asian manufacturers, but are interested in the possibility of purchases from Russian companies. About 20 million square meters of boards are produced in the country, most of which are used for military purposes.
