Putin behind the wheel of the latest Aurus Komendant armored car impressed journalists

Bulletproof Aurus Komendant spotted at Putin's residence in Novo-Ogaryovo

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently hosted his colleagues from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence near Moscow. A non-formal presentation of the Russian bulletproof car Aurus Komendant also took place there.

The head of state himself got behind the wheel of the crossover. The president's new car was captured by journalists of the Kremlin pool.

As noted by representatives of the press, the crossover has undergone serious changes. In particular, the Aurus Komendant received new wheels and reinforced Kama tires. The main difference of the armored version is the thick edging of the glass.

The developers initially took into account the possibility of installing armored plates. This is confirmed by the Vehicle Type Approval Certificate, which indicates the purpose of the car "to protect the life and health of passengers."

The bulletproof version of Aurus appeared a year after the release of the regular one. An expert from the Motor publication suggested that the curb weight of the car exceeds 3.5 tons. It is expected that all technical characteristics of the model will be known before the start of sales. There is no information about the date yet, but it will probably appear in 2024.

Aurus Komendant is a full-size representative-class crossover. The assembly of armored versions is carried out by specialists of FSUE "NAMI".

It was previously reported that the premium crossover Aurus Komendant won in the "Design Product" nomination of the "Best Industrial Design of Russia" award.
