Russian tanks and IFVs received "visors" to protect against drones

Military expert explained how "visors" will protect Russian tanks and IFVs from drones

Protective screens - "visors" - have begun to be installed on Russian T-72B3M, T-80BVM, T-90M tanks and BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles. This is evidenced by photographs taken during the international exhibition "Army-2023", as well as photos from social networks.

It is believed that such "visors" protect heavy equipment from ammunition dropped from FPV drones and quadcopters. According to Yuri Lyamin, an employee of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST), this tactic was used during conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

Drones dropped an improvised explosive device on an American M1A1M Abrams tank, hitting the hatch, it disabled the combat vehicle, he explained. Humvee armored vehicles suffered from similar raids. This forced Western manufacturers to install protective screens above the machine gunners' workplaces - the very same "visors," Lyamin emphasized.

Against the backdrop of the fact that drone production is growing in different countries of the world, the use of protective "visors" will become a long-term part of army practice, the expert summarized.
