Russian smartwatches will be able to send patient data to the attending physician

Kazan developers have created a smart watch-tonometer

Developers from Kazan have created a smart watch (smartwatch) that measures the patient's pulse, blood pressure and ECG, and can also send this data to the attending physician. The first batch of smartwatches is planned to be released in 2024, according to the National Technology Initiative (NTI) platform.

The device, which incorporates artificial intelligence (AI), can be introduced into a unified system for remote monitoring of the patient's health within the framework of the "Polyclinic at Home" model. According to one of the authors of the project, Linar Garifullin, the gadget is customized individually. Unlike smartwatches from other manufacturers, the Russian development helps the attending physician to adjust the therapy, and the data collected by it becomes part of the patient's medical history. Garifullin called the gadget "import-advancing".

The project, which combines the functions of a medical device and a smartwatch, is at the prototype stage. The developers also plan to obtain a registration certificate from Roszdravnadzor.
