Insiders from the Avtograd News public page have confirmed that the "Lada St. Petersburg" plant has completed the assembly of a trial batch of Chery Tiggo 7 Pro crossovers under the Lada badge.
This information is supported by photographs of vehicles taken on the territory of the car factory's engineering center. Thus, rumors of AvtoVAZ's collaboration with Chery in the Russian market have been confirmed.
Sources also claim that Chery provides more attractive terms of cooperation for AvtoVAZ than the company FAW. As a reminder, the Chinese FAW Bestune T77 has been produced under the Lada brand since April of this year at the factory in St. Petersburg.
Now, next to the Lada X-Cross 5 (as the former FAW Bestune T77 is called), Chery is also being tested. As previously reported, Lada has already received indices for two Chery models: 7 Pro and 8.
Currently, a trial batch of such cars has already been assembled at the factory in St. Petersburg, and specialists from various VAZ quality control services are now checking compliance with all technological parameters of the assembly.
This step may be important for future partnerships and the development of the automotive industry in Russia. In addition, the similarity of the Chery and Lada logos will facilitate the renaming process, if required in the future. As a reminder, rumors about the possibility of producing Chery Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 crossovers under the Lada brand first appeared in July. AvtoVAZ has not yet confirmed the details of the cooperation, but does not rule out the possibility of establishing large-node assembly in Russia.
