The Chirchik Technopark in the Tashkent region has announced that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant is going to launch the assembly of its SUVs in Uzbekistan at the technopark site. Representatives of Chirchik and UAZ have already discussed the prospects for cooperation.
Representatives of UAZ announced their intention to launch car assembly in Uzbekistan and are considering the technopark for this purpose.
Chirchik is a young technopark, its construction began in March 2022. The site was created for the implementation of projects for the production of petrochemical and chemical products in cooperation with the Kazan technopolis Khimgrad.
Interestingly, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, also spoke about the possibility of resuming car assembly in Uzbekistan in April this year. However, since then there has been nothing new about these plans.
The current UAZ lineup includes commercial models of the SGR and Profi families, as well as Patriot, Pickup, and Hunter SUVs. All cars are equipped with 2.7-liter engines. But soon UAZ will have its own modern diesel engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. These units will be installed on both commercial models and the Patriot.
