Iranian Saipa plans to establish car production in Russia. One of the models is based on the Toyota platform

However, this platform is quite old

At the MIMS Automobility Moscow 2023 exhibition, which opened today in the capital, the Iranian company Saipa announced plans to establish production of its own cars in Russia. So far we are talking about two models - the Shahin and P90 sedans.

Saipa Shahin is built on the Toyota B platform from Toyota Yaris second generation (the car was launched in 2005) and is equipped with a 112-horsepower 1.5-liter engine.

Saipa P90 is a modernized Renault Logan first generation, which was already assembled in Russia and has long been discontinued. production. This model is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 115 hp, a mechanical gearbox or a 6-speed Chinese "automatic".

Saipa intends to organize assembly at one of the former sites of the Renault-Nissan concern, but it is not known which one.

Experts believe that Saipa cars can gain a foothold in the Russian market, but only if prices are adequate.
