In Russia, even ultralight drones will have to be registered

New rules for UAV registration come into effect on September 1, 2024

The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has announced that all ultralight drones (i.e., weighing up to 115 kg) will have to be registered from September 1, 2024. This means absolutely all consumer drones.

The corresponding decree was signed by the Chairman of the Government, Mikhail Mishustin. Aircraft in this category will be registered according to the same rules that are currently used to register "light" drones. The changes to the Registration Rules will come into force on September 1, 2024. After that, owners of such aircraft will have 60 days to register them in accordance with the updated rules.
