The Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITochMash), which is part of the Kalashnikov concern, has manufactured a batch of gun computing complexes (OVK) for installation on 120-mm Nona-SM (2S9-1M) self-propelled artillery guns.
The OVK automates control processes and reduces the time to solve fire missions. The complex was developed at TsNIITochMash in the early 2000s during the modernization of the Nona self-propelled gun.
Serial production of the Nona-SM began in 2006. Unlike its predecessors, this self-propelled artillery gun is equipped with a satellite navigation system and an inertial reference system. Thanks to the installed computer, the 2S9-1M self-propelled gun is capable of firing as part of a division in semi-automatic mode.
