Япония вводит запрет на поставки в Россию автомобилей с двигателем объемом 1,9 литра

Japan harmonizes its sanctions measures with those of the European Union

Japanese Economy Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura announced that the Land of the Rising Sun is tightening export restrictions on Russia. In particular, Japan will ban the export to the Russian Federation of any cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters.

The measures will be announced on August 2 and will take effect on August 9. In accordance with this, the export to Russia of cars with an engine of more than 1900 milliliters, hybrid cars, and tires for large vehicles will be prohibited.

Thus, Japan brings its export restrictions against Russia into line with the previously adopted 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union. The EU then, let us recall, banned the export to Russia of new and used electric vehicles, hybrids and cars with internal combustion engines with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters.

At the end of 2022, Japan delivered about 200 thousand used cars to Russia, and in the first half of this year, exports increased by 32.8% compared to the same period last year.
