Air service with Georgia, interrupted since 2019, has resumed: today the first plane flew from Sochi to Tbilisi. The flights were launched by Red Wings airline. Initially, the flight was scheduled for 14:00, but it was slightly delayed.
As a reminder, on May 10, Vladimir Putin signed decrees canceling the visa regime for citizens of Georgia and canceling the ban on flights by Russian airlines to Georgia, which had been in effect since 2019. On May 15, Russian airlines requested permission from Georgia to operate flights between the two countries. The first flight from Moscow to Georgia took place on May 19, operated by Azimuth airline. Georgian Airways has been flying to Russia since May 20.
