Russia is among the world leaders in the construction of nuclear reactors worldwide. This was reported by Nikkei with reference to the data of the Japanese Energy Information Center.
At the moment, 110 third-generation nuclear reactors (with enhanced safety measures) are being built or designed worldwide. 46 of them are in China, 30 in Russia. Together they make up 69% of the world market. Russia has the largest number of reactors being built outside the country - 19. Among the most well-known successful projects implemented by Russia are Akkuyu NPP in Turkey and El-Dabaa NPP in Egypt.
However, in the USA, Europe and Japan, following the accident at the Fukushima-1 NPP in Japan, the construction of new reactors was postponed, and the industry itself stopped developing.
