In the medium term, a completely new regional aircraft with a capacity of up to 19 people may appear in Russia. The UZGA - Ural Civil Aviation Plant, which is also working on the LMS-901 "Baikal" and TVRS-44 "Ladoga" aircrafts, is developing it.
UZGA plans to certify and begin delivering the new aircraft to customers in 2026. This was announced by a representative of the company. The new model will replace the Czech turboprop L-410, which currently has major problems maintaining flight readiness due to sanctions.
They plan to create the airframe of the new aircraft in partnership between Russia and Belarus. Currently, negotiations are underway between the parties.
"We have thoroughly studied the market for local airline aircraft, so we have an understanding of what kind of aircraft will be most attractive to potential operators both in Russia and abroad", - a representative of UZGA said.
The VK-800 engine will be used as part of the power unit of the new aircraft, and the onboard equipment will be a complex developed by KRET in 2019.
