The Vega Concern (part of the Ruselectronics holding of the Rostec State Corporation), together with NPO Mashinostroeniya and Roscosmos, have begun operating the first Kondor-FKA Earth remote sensing satellite – it was launched today from Vostochny using a Soyuz 2.1a rocket and has already been successfully placed into orbit.
«"Kondor-FKA" will be able to obtain detailed images with a resolution of up to 1 meter in any weather and at any time of the day and survey the earth's surface in a strip up to 100 km wide in survey mode», - said Ruselectronics.
The Kondor-FKA includes a synthetic aperture radar developed by the Vega Concern, designed to obtain high and medium resolution radar images. It is equipped with an umbrella-type mirror antenna and provides all-weather, round-the-clock observation in a strip of the earth's surface parallel to the flight path of the spacecraft.
«Increasing our own modern group of Earth remote sensing satellites is an extremely important measure in ensuring the technological sovereignty of our country. To date, the Concern has fulfilled its obligations to develop and manufacture payloads for all satellites of the future Kondor-FKA orbital group. Currently, the Concern's enterprises are working on creating a new radar for the next generation of spacecraft of this type, in order to fully meet the needs of consumers of such information in the coming years», said Sergey Skorykh, General Director of the Vega Concern.
