AvtoVAZ has finally defeated the oil consumption of the 1.8-liter engine

It is still unclear what exactly has been changed in the engine

The head of the Lada Vesta project, Oleg Grunenkov, told Quto.ru that the company has completely eliminated oil consumption in the 1.8-liter engine. What measures made it possible to defeat it once and for all is not reported: Grunenkov only said that "engineers changed the design of the unit."

The 16-valve 1.8-liter engine will appear under the hood of the Lada Vesta NG next year, and it will work exclusively with a CVT - combining it with a manual transmission is not planned.

Let us remind you that as soon as the 1.8-liter engine began to be installed on the Vesta, it consumed 2-4 liters per 10 thousand km, and in some cases the consumption for waste was 1 liter per 1 thousand km. Then AvtoVAZ began to change the cylinder head free of charge under warranty, but nothing much changed - until 2018, when the engine was modernized again. Then the assembly quality of the cylinder head was improved, valve damage was eliminated, damage to the oil deflector cap was eliminated, the design of the crankcase ventilation separator was adjusted, and... they began to pour engine oil with increased viscosity 5W40. The situation with oil consumption really improved, but it still remained. And now the engineers seem to have completely fixed the problem.
