The CEO of JSC Obukhovsky Plant Mikhail Podvyaznikov announced an upcoming launch of production in St. Petersburg, at the former Toyota factory, of small electric vehicles L-type. "We will be manufacturing small L-type cars. The presentation of this car will be on 25-26 May at the former Toyotа plant... The first sample will be shown. We plan to produce around 10-14 thousand of them. Until we boost the production of electric vehicles", - said Mikhail Podvyaznikov.
Detailed specifications and images of the car will be published in 10 days, but it is already known that it will be an ultra-compact city car of category L7e – with swappable batteries, maximum speed of 90 km/h and a range of 183 km. All parts will be locally manufactured. Mass production of the L-type should begin in 2024 already. At first, the volume of production will be 2,000 electric cars per year, and by 2029 it will increase to 10-12 thousand. per year.
