According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, citing a study by Auto.ru, the number of ads in Russia for the sale of new Chinese cars has increased 15 times since the beginning of 2021. At the same time, the share of Chinese brands among all new cars increased from 5 to 43% over the same period.
Chinese cars in the secondary market have become "younger": now Chinese cars are sold on average at the age of up to 6 years, while in 2021 and early 2022, nine-year-old cars were mainly found. The average mileage of a Chinese car has decreased to 75-80 thousand kilometers from 100-120 thousand two years earlier.
«We see that among used Chinese cars, more than half (58%) are "fresh", which are no more than five years old. Moreover, the most significant part of them — 74% — are no more than two years old. In the near future, used Chinese cars will continue to "get younger", as sales of new Chinese cars are growing right now», — said Alexey Mukhanov, head of the research and customer analytics group at Auto.ru.
The average price of a used Chinese car is more than 1.6 million rubles. This is 62% more than a year ago, and five times more than at the beginning of 2021. As for the average cost of a new Chinese car, it is 3.2 million rubles — twice as much as in January 2021.
