At the Russian Orbital Station (ROS), it is planned to work out the technology of quantum communication, Roscosmos reported.
RSC «Energy» and the company «CuSpace Technologies» have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of development of satellite technologies of quantum communication. The main direction of joint work is the expansion of the commercial services capabilites of RKA in the development and experimental flight testing of promising networks of satellite optical communication and quantum communication means in open data transmission channels.
However, this perspective is not close. The first module of the Russian Orbital Station - NEM (Science Energy Module) - will be launched only in 2028. And the development of quantum communication will most likely start later, as initially all attention will be devoted to the debugging and testing of station operation systems.
