Production of commercial electric vehicles based on UAZ "Profi" started in the special economic zone "Technopolis Moscow" in Tekstilshchiki. Trucks are called EVM Pro. Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Sergey Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, were present at the official ceremony.
EVM Pro is built on the base of the rear-wheel drive UAZ "Profi". The regular gasoline engine is replaced with an electric motor, delivering 85 kW or 116 hp, and a lithium-iron-phosphate traction battery provides a range of up to 300 km. With a full weight of 3.5 tons, its payload is 1 ton. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the battery using a 40 kW charger, which is included with the vehicle.
Despite the fact that EVM Pro is less powerful than the gasoline version and has a shorter range on a full tank, there is demand for the vehicle. "We have signed more than 300 solid contracts. The total number of pre-orders for the vehicles is over 500. As the first vehicles roll off the assembly line, we begin delivering them to customers and start pilot projects, testing the vehicles," said Ilya Rashkin, CEO of the manufacturing company “Electric Vehicles Manufacturing ‘Rus'.
The share of domestic components in EVM Pro is over 70%, including all onboard electronics, steel and colored rolling stock, chassis, sensors and plastic. The minimum price before accounting for the government subsidy on preferential car loans is 4.5 million rubles.
