AvtoVAZ showed the "newest" Lada X-Cross 5 crossover at a dealer presentation in Sochi. Photos and details were published in his Telegram channel by Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the Za Rulem publication.
In the VAZ lineup, this is indeed a new model, but the automaker itself has nothing to do with its creation: in fact, the X-Cross 5 is a Chinese FAW Bestune T77 crossover, only with the recognizable Lada logo. Its production will be established within a few months at the former Russian Nissan plant in St. Petersburg.
The X-Cross 5 will be assembled like the "Moskvich 3" – by large-node assembly from Chinese car kits, then conveyor production will be launched. Under the hood of the Lada X-Cross 5 will be a 1.5-liter turbo engine (in the Chinese specification it produces 160 hp, but in the Russian version the power may be slightly less), which will work in tandem with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed "robot". The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.
