The moment is approaching when the first domestic import-substituted SSJ New aircraft, equipped with the Russian PD-8 engine, will take to the skies. The event, which many in the Russian aviation industry are waiting for, will take place within three months. This was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, speaking in the State Duma.
He said: "In aircraft construction, we are creating a line of modern airplanes and helicopters. Last year, aerodynamic tests of the updated Superjet aircraft were fully completed. Now it will be equipped with Russian fifth-generation PD-8 engines instead of foreign units. Its first flight is planned within the next three months."
