Dozens of large oil refineries operate in Russia, but one of the largest in terms of volume is the Ryazan Oil Refinery. The enterprise is capable of processing about 17.1 million tons of oil per year – approximately 341 thousand barrels per day.

When the Ryazan Oil Refinery Appeared
The first technological facility – the AVT-1 atmospheric-vacuum processing unit – began operation in October 1960, although construction started in 1954.
Subsequently, new primary processing, catalytic reforming, hydrotreating, and cracking units appeared at the refinery. By the end of the 1960s, the plant could already process about 9 million tons of oil per year.
How Much Oil the Plant Processes
Today, the Ryazan Oil Refining Company is part of Rosneft's oil refining block. The design capacity of the enterprise is about 17.087 million tons per year.
In its first 55 years of operation, RNPK processed over 701 million tons of oil. By 2020, the accumulated volume exceeded 773 million tons. Currently, the enterprise operates about 28 technological units, and the processing depth exceeds 80%.
What the Ryazan Oil Refinery Produces
The plant produces a wide range of motor fuels and raw materials for industry from oil. Its nomenclature includes AI-92, AI-95, and AI-100 gasolines, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, marine fuel, liquefied petroleum gases, as well as road, roofing, and construction bitumens.
Annually, the enterprise produces approximately 3.5–3.6 million tons of automotive gasoline, supplying fuel to Moscow and the central regions of Russia.
On a national scale, the plant maintains a significant share, producing about 8–9% of all automotive gasoline in Russia.
After modernization, the enterprise mastered the production of Euro-6 gasolines, Pulsar 100, and low-sulfur marine fuel.
