Dozens of large oil refineries operate in Russia, but among them, the Omsk Refinery of Gazprom Neft stands out in terms of capacity. The enterprise is capable of processing about 22 million tons of oil per year — approximately 440 thousand barrels per day.

Scale of production of the largest refinery
The Omsk Refinery is located in Omsk, in the east of Western Siberia. The plant has been operating since 1955 and today occupies an area of about 1400 hectares.
In terms of installed capacity, it surpasses the second largest Russian refinery — Kirishinefteorgsintez in the Leningrad region, designed for approximately 21 million tons of oil per year. This is followed by Ryazan NPC with a capacity of about 17.1 million tons and Nizhny Novgorod Refinery — about 17 million tons.
What the Omsk Refinery produces
The enterprise produces almost the entire basic range of petroleum products: gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, bitumen, and other petroleum refining products.
The plant is capable of processing approximately 60 thousand tons of oil per day. High refining depth allows obtaining a significant share of high value-added products from raw materials, rather than just fuel oil.
In total, the Omsk Refinery produces about 5–5.5 million tons of automotive gasoline and about 6–7 million tons of diesel fuel per year.
Why refinery size matters
A large oil refinery is not just a big industrial enterprise. Its operation is directly related to providing the market with motor fuel.
The Omsk Refinery is among the key Russian enterprises in the industry: its products are used in both the civilian sector and in industry and aviation.
It is important to distinguish between the plant's capacity and the actual processing volume: the former shows the technical potential of the enterprise, while the latter depends on the utilization of units, repairs, and the current production situation.
It is precisely by its installed capacity that the Omsk Refinery is considered the largest oil refinery in Russia.
