The appearance of a new project for a new generation single-engine combat aircraft, the Su-75 "Shah and Mat" (Checkmate) in 2021, caused a lively discussion both in the aviation field and among aviation enthusiasts. The display of the model at MAKS-2021 and marketing videos were aimed at a foreign buyer - the machine was positioned as an export one.
Four years later, there are different opinions about the fate of the Su-75. But in January 2025, data appeared on the expected assembly of the first two flight prototypes during this year.
Moreover, there is no information anywhere about any planned export deliveries, but Belarus has been invited to join the topic. Russian aircraft factories are quite busy, especially since the Su-75 is clearly not a priority program for the Russian Aerospace Forces.
To begin with, the "seventy-fifth" as an export combat aircraft in 2021 was positioned as "Su-57 for the not-so-rich" (although not openly, but in fact it turned out that many countries would like to have a fifth-generation aircraft in service, but some of them do not want to fall under the US with their F-35, and the large Russian Su-57 is expensive, but what if it were cheaper...).
Also, Belarus' participation in the production of the aircraft implies the acquisition of the Su-75 for the Belarusian military, which will give Russian aircraft manufacturers the first launch customer for the new machine.
The speed of the Checkmate will be from 1.8 to 2.0 Mach, the flight range is up to 3000 km, the maximum combat load is 7400 kg, the practical ceiling is 16.5 km, the maximum operational overload is 8 units.
