Crews of Kornet anti-tank missile systems (ATGMs) can perform the role of a short-range air defense system through the use of the unique 9M133FM-3 tactical missile.

The missile has a semi-automatic laser-beam guidance system and has the longest range of all missiles in the Kornet family - 10 kilometers.

The 9M133FM-3 is designed to engage slow-moving subsonic aerial targets moving at speeds up to 250 m/s. It is equipped with contact and laser fuzes, which allow the high-explosive warhead to be activated at a distance of up to 3 m from the target.

Thus, the Kornet is capable of performing the function of a jam-resistant tactical short-range air defense system.
