He noted that two 23-mm automatic cannons 2A14 from the Tula KBP provide armor-piercing incendiary tracer shells with a sighting range of up to 2400 m, high-explosive fragmentation shells - up to 1700 m.

ZU-23-2 can also be equipped with thermal imaging sighting systems for effective operation at night.

An important technical advantage of the ZU-23-2 is the maximum elevation angle of the gun block, reaching 90 degrees, which allows to eliminate the "dead funnel" in the upper hemisphere above the ZU-23-2.

Designers of the Moscow branch of the Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant, with the active assistance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, previously equipped the ZU-23-2 with the latest thermal imaging sight. They sent an experimental sample for testing to the Russian Institute of Special Forces named after V. V. Putin in Chechnya.

Chief designer Sergei Sevastyanov explained that all-weather use is provided by the installed optoelectronic unit, which has a thermal imager and a television camera.

Tests have shown that the specified characteristics are perfectly performed and meet the requirements of modern combat.

ZU-23-2 is a Soviet twin anti-aircraft gun. Rate of fire - 2 thousand rounds per minute, firing range 1.5 km in height, 2.5 km in range. Combat crew - five people.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian fiber optic FPV drones proved to be completely invulnerable to electronic warfare at the front line. The new type of UAV does not require careful selection of position and is protected from video signal interception.
