IDRW: India was offered a decommissioned submarine along with weapons for $300 million

Russia has offered India to acquire the Kalibr-PL cruise missile for Kilo-class submarines. However, there is one condition – the missile comes as a “package deal” with the purchase of three more modernized submarines of this class, according to the IDRW portal.

According to the source, the Russian Federation is ready to supply the missile only as part of a package with submarines that it has decommissioned itself.

At the same time, Russia promises to extend their service life by another 20 years and carry out a complete modernization before transfer. The deal amount is 300 million dollars per submarine.

India already operates Club-S/Club-N family missiles, but they are only installed on Kilo-class submarines and have a limited range – about 300 km, while the Kalibr-PL has a range of up to 1500 km.

Recall that Kilo is the export designation for Russian Project 877 Paltus diesel-electric submarines and its modifications. The most famous is Project 636 Varshavyanka, which is also called Kilo in the export version.
