Artificial intelligence has started to be used to determine the ripeness of fruits and berries from a photograph. This was stated by 62% of respondents in a survey conducted by the "Paket" service from X5 Group (which owns the Pyaterochka retail chain). 1.5 thousand people participated in it.
Another 60% send AI a photo of a finished dish to find out what ingredients are needed to prepare it, 50% — to find a recipe for a similar dish, and 38% — to determine its name.
The neural network also helps calculate the quantity of products when preparing for shopping (57%) and choose a dish to cook from what is in the refrigerator (48%). A third of respondents use AI to compile a shopping list (38%), and 44% of Russians ask AI to remember products they usually buy to speed up shopping.
While in the supermarket, 55% of respondents use a neural network to calculate the cost of products in their cart, 44% check what is missing from the list, and 36% find a substitute for an unavailable item. To get advice from AI, 57% of Russians send a photo of the product packaging, 44% — of the store shelf, and 29% — of the shopping cart.
Based on photo analysis, 59% of survey participants learn about the product's composition, 41% — what dishes it is used in, and 56% — what it tastes like. Another 51% of respondents ask AI what ingredients the product pairs best with, according to the research results.
