The Yandex data center in the Vladimir region has completely ceased operations after a drone attack. Infrastructure damage and power outages affected Yandex Cloud, and users began reporting disruptions in other company services. According to the company, there were no casualties, and relevant services are working on site.
According to Sboy.RF, problems are observed with Yandex Go, Yandex Music, Yandex Pay, and other company services.
The company reported that the facility temporarily ceased operations due to infrastructure damage. The timeline for restoring the data center and fully returning services to normal operation has not yet been specified.
We consider the remaining resource configuration unstable. The platform's operating mode is emergency – we recommend using any other alternative disaster recovery plans. Communication channels with technical support may be unstable. The team is working on assessing the damage and possible plans for resuming operations.
This is already the third known case of damage to a Yandex data center as a result of an attack. Previously, a similar situation occurred at a facility in Sasovo, Ryazan region, and in Kaluga: after the attack, a fire broke out there, and data center operations were also suspended. Later, the company could not confirm that the facilities would be fully restored.
Data centers ensure the operation of cloud platforms and other digital services. Damage to the power supply or engineering infrastructure of such a facility can lead to disruptions in several services dependent on it. The company has not yet disclosed the scale of the current outage and the timeline for eliminating the consequences.
