The incident in Kaluga occurred the day after a fire at another Yandex data center in the city of Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast. The fire there occurred on October 8, also as a result of an attack. After that, the center's operations were completely halted.
On the evening of October 8, the company announced that it was assessing the damage and could not yet confirm whether the damaged equipment could be restored.
The consequences of the incident in Sasovo also affected other companies. In particular, users of the Cian platform faced problems accessing the website and application. The service's press office linked the outage to the incident at the infrastructure partner's facility.
