Investments from 14 years old: Sber prepares accounts with tax benefits for teenagers

Young investors will be able to independently open IIS and conduct transactions, but with limitations on amounts and risks

Sber plans to allow teenagers to open individual investment accounts of the third type (IIS-3) in SberInvestitsii. Such accounts will enable young investors to gradually build capital and, subject to established conditions, exempt investment income from tax in the future. Ruslan Vesterovsky, Senior Vice President of Sberbank, announced these plans at the "Real Future" forum.

Interest in the stock market among minors has already significantly increased. According to the bank, 300,000 teenagers have opened brokerage accounts in SberInvestitsii. Moreover, more than half of clients aged 14 to 17, who have assets in their accounts, entered the market in 2026.

It is noteworthy that young investors primarily prefer stocks: they account for 75% of all investments. Among the most popular securities are Sber, LUKOIL, and Rosneft. Teenagers place another 15% of their funds in investment funds, and the remaining 10% in bonds.

However, minors will not be able to freely trade all instruments. High-risk assets, including derivative financial instruments and certain bonds, as well as transactions with borrowed funds and operations in the futures market, will be unavailable to them. Topping up a brokerage account is allowed for no more than 25,000 rubles per year with parental consent. Similar restrictions will apply to IIS.

Teenagers aged 14 and older gained the opportunity to open regular brokerage accounts in SberInvestitsii back in October 2024. Now the bank intends to expand the range of available instruments through IIS-3. The exact launch date for the new accounts has not yet been announced, but the company promises to introduce this opportunity in the near future.
