The Russian neural network GigaChat created its own version of the continuation of Nikolai Gogol's poem "Dead Souls". The book "Dead Souls. Second Volume. Revival" has already gone on sale.
Specialists from Sberbank, historians, literary critics, and linguists worked on the novel "Dead Souls. Second Volume. Revival". The AI model was trained on Gogol's complete collected works, his letters, drafts, and notebooks, as well as on the works of Pushkin, Dostoevsky, and Turgenev, philosophical and biblical texts.
Each generated episode was checked by specialists. According to the project authors, the task was not to compile and copy Gogol's texts, but to create a new work based on the writer's characteristic techniques. Sber itself specifically emphasizes that the resulting text is "definitely not Gogol". The book was also supplemented with 21 illustrations created by GigaChat in the style of Alexander Agin.
The new "Dead Souls" can be purchased in the online stores "Chitai-Gorod" and "Bookvoed". The novel will soon appear on major marketplaces.
The first volume of Gogol's "Dead Souls" was published in 1842. The writer worked on the continuation for many years, but due to a creative crisis and dissatisfaction with his work, he burned the main manuscript in 1852. Only 5 unfinished chapters survived. One of the drafts is stored in the funds of the Russian State Library in Moscow.
