Russian ATMs may in the future be able to dispense cash upon conversion of digital rubles. The banknote recycling module being developed by Goznak initially provides for compatibility with such operations, if ATMs receive the corresponding function.
Goznak reported that the development is designed for use in various ATMs, including those that will in the future be able to convert digital rubles into cash.
The module will be able to work in any ATMs, including those that will have the function of converting digital rubles into cash, if such ATMs appear in the future.
However, this is not yet about launching such an operation in ordinary ATMs. Goznak speaks of the technical compatibility of its module with a possible future scenario.
Official data from the Bank of Russia shows that as of July 1, 2026, there were 117 thousand ATMs with cash dispensing in the country, of which 99.6 thousand were recycling devices.
