Rostelecom named the safest way to store passwords

The ideal scenario is one random 25-character code

The safest way to store passwords is one long master password to access a vault where all others are stored. Alexey Demyanenko, Director of Products and Tariffs for the Mass Segment at Rostelecom, stated this in an interview with TASS.

According to him, the ideal scenario is one completely random 25-character password to access the password vault. All other passwords are more complex and are stored in this vault.

Demyanenko admitted that this method is tedious, and in most cases, a few basic rules are sufficient. For the most important services, unique passwords should be used, not saved in the browser, and two-factor authentication should be applied everywhere.

What to pay attention to

The expert emphasized that fraudsters more often do not guess passwords, but gain access to them through phishing, social engineering, or hacking weakly protected websites. Therefore, the uniqueness of individual passwords and additional protection in the form of two-factor authentication are more important than their complexity.
